In 1920, he hit 54 home runs which shattered the existing major league record of 29 which he himself had set the year before. In 1927, he hit an incredible 60 home runs a record that stood until 1961 when Roger Maris hit 61, Babe Ruth hit 40 or more homers an astounding 11 times, both records which have never been approached by any other player.
